Right
in the very heart of the Drôme Provençale, next to
the Comtat Venaissin and the Dauphiné, the terroir of La Suzienne covers
twenty-two communes and, since its creation in 1926, has produced some
of the most individual and expressive Côtes du Rhône and Coteaux du

The main grapes or cépages are the black Grenache (65%), Syrah (17%) and Carignan (10%). The other varieties being: Cinsault and Mourvèdre (3%) and the white grapes: Clairette, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and the white Grenache which make up the final 5% of total harvest. Currently, the average yield at La Suzienne is 130 000 hectolitres
of wine, 80% of which is Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée: (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) is the highest classification category of French wines, legally defined by governmental decree).

Hi-tech equipment along with the fastidious care with which the grapes are selected and strict management mean that the exemplary wine cellar of La Suzienne is highly respected by all in the wine trade. They also ensure the widest range of Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages and Coteaux du Tricastin, with vins primeurs appearing from the middle of November on. |
